In this new tip tutorial for 3ds max we’ll take a look at various techniques to speed up the rendering/lighting/shading setup process. We’ll see how we can render just an area or a selection in the virtual frame buffer using the Scanline rendering engine and the Render Region, Crop Render, Blowup Render and Render Selected, then we’ll see how we can render just the selected pixels, (selecting a mesh), in Mental Ray, because this feature gives the possibility to render just the pixels of the selected mesh with all the rendering features active, as shadows, reflection, refraction, object masks etc etc.
