In this new tip tutorial for 3ds max 2010, we’ll see how we can assign different surface materials to a single mesh just using a single shader in the Material Editor. We’ll use the Multi/Sub-object shader, over a simple box primitive, we’ll change the face ID using an Edit Poly modifier, and then we assign right Arch&Design MR shader to every face ID, so we’ll obtain a complete room rendering just using a single shader. To illuminate the environment we’ll use photometric lights.
