In this new 3D Studio Max tutorial from Max Cookie we’ll continue to talk about Prime Focus Krakatoa.

We’ll take a look at the possibility to create a volume picking an animated mesh, and then how to make a good setup to create a basic sand creature. This will be 1st step to create our 1st monster made completely of sand, in the past article we saw how to create grainy sand, now we’ll see how to render a volume of sand, so it will be really simple to merge the two techniques to achieve a complete and realistic result.

I watched the tutorial, I am hoping the final composite will look more sharper to mimic sand.

I like the random tutorial idea Alessandro , very interesting :)

    Thank you

      Hi, thanks for the message.
Actual Krakatoa pass is just a basic pass, in next step we have to put over it a sand layer similar to the previous Krakatoa tutorial look, so final composite will be more similar to the real life sand.

      Thanks for your support

    Hi,
The video doesn’t work for me, is it normal ?
(it says that the creator didn’t gave me the permission to embed it on this domain…)
The previous krakatoa tutorial was so great !
I hope I will see this one :)

    Hi
Thanks for your cool tutorials. Just wondered if you could split the tutorials in 10 minutes parts as well, my connection is not that stable to play the whole video. it disconnects in the middle most of the times and I have to load it from the scratch which is a pain considering my slow connection.
