In this new tip video tutorial for 3ds max 2011, we’ll take a look at Slate Material Editor a new feature added to 3ds max by Autodesk. Slate is a node based material editor that add a lot of powerful features, (previously developed by Thinking Apes team as NodeJoe plug-in).

We’ll talk about basic user interface workflow and how to create a simple standard shader with just a bitmap in the diffuse slot to see how the nodes must be used and how we can interact with it to modify material properties or
to interact with the scene.
