The value of your membership will only continue to grow as we add more education to our two sites and any new sites we add to the network.
With this tutorial we will start with an interesting topic that usually is not covered so deeply all around the world wide web : “How to create a Twister with 3ds max 2010″. This tutorial will be split in two parts to have the right amount of time to cover all the stuffs and technique we need to discover together.
In this 3D Studio Max Video Part 2 we’ll take a look at additional features to achieve final result. We’ll see how to add particles captured by the twister’s wind, and how to create main twister body using different ways. We’ll take a look at the basic illumination also to understand how we can illuminate it for final render process.
To follow our Twister tutorial you’ll need to use one of the latest release of 3ds max, (starting from 2008), have a basic knowledge of Particle Flow features, and you need FumeFX installed on your machine, (you can download a demo or ask for a temp license to test it).

Download includes:
- .max file
- High Resolution .mov
FumeFX from Sitni Sati is the only way we have to simulate at the best our twister, due to its fluid dynamic features. A twister is a volumetric effect so we need a volumetric plug-in to render it, and the only way is to use Afterburn/Pyrocluster and FumeFX, but to avoid a more complex particle setup, we’ll use just the last one.
