In this Citizen Exclusive we take a look at creating an environment using silhouettes to block in our shapes. We start with a rough outline and then start blocking in our shapes and colors. After a bit of clean up, we get it ready for the lighting.

Great being a Citizen. Thanks Tim for another nice tutorial. I have asked Santa for a Watcom intros 4 (sp) for Christmas so that I can do your work justice (my mouse just doesn’t cut it). Keeping my fingers crossed. Keep up the good work (you have David looking over his shoulder lol)

Merry Christmas to you and yours,

Good topic for sure! Im not sure if most people realize but almost every video game uses this technique for design if they intend to or not if you have interesting silhouettes it makes your designs stand out that much more when you fill in the details of what is creating the silhouette.
