In this new tip tutorial for 3ds max, we’ll see how we can obtain the chamfer edges effect direcly in rendering without the need to work on modeling stuffs. We’ll use Mental Ray and a simple Arch&Design material with the Round Corners option set to on. It works in a similar way as the Chamfer Edges, it needs a fillet radius, to create the illusion to have a changed model in rendering using some special shading feature similar to bump mapping technology.
