I re-rendered the trumpet using Cycle render.
Wow what a difference.

    Fantastic render!
however, you’ve got some surface problems towards the bell and on the general tubing, be sure to check you’ve got smooth shading on the adjustable slide towards the front, because its got some artifact-ish checker pattern, and if your feeling ambitious, trying to inlay the usual engraving that yamaha or any other instrument company makes would really crank up the “professional” look that your render definitely has going on

but all in all the trumpet is quite realistic looking, and is an absolutely fantastically well done piece.

thanks, don’t know how to add inlays in blender but I am working on it.The mesh on the tubing needs to be scraped and replaced, sloppy workmanship.

It looks great in this render, but I have a couple little knitpicks about it. The Tuning slides. Both fron tuning slides have a spit valve on the bottom front. it’s a small tricky piece to model and add on, but I think you can pull it off.

You should also try to vary your textures a little more. Right now, you seem to have a single texture placed on each component of the instrument. to name a couple that absolutely wouldn’t be done, the keys and the inside of the tuning slide(since it looks like the tuning slide was pulled out a little). The small tubes that connect the keys from the valves and the internals of the tuning slide are by no means a shiny brass to match the instrument. These parts are usually left s Matte colored metal. So look closely at the different components of the instrument and add a few more textures to it.

But overall, I think you have a very good thing going so far. Look up a couple more references and look at those smaller components closely. When it comes to 3d renders like this, Even the little details make the image. That’s just my opinion of course. Anyway, good luck! Hope to see an update sometime!

  4. Pretty nice render,I think some place of the mesh isn’t smooth shading because it’s kind of weird. Also, I’m not sure if you used an HDR image, if you used one, you should take another one because there is too much black on the reflection of the instrument.

    HDRI in cycle :
    World Option/Use node/color : environnement texture/HDRI

Beautiful one. Good model, good render. Why no background?

thanks for the input, your points are well taken.Spit valves,I hoped no one would notice.I am trying to model spit valves but not happy with results. The mesh on all the tubing needs to be replaced, sloppy work on my part, will correct and add missing parts and treat all parts as separate materials.
As far textures, mapping etc.I will add when I learn how this is done in Blender.
