This is an updated version of my previous submission of a still life render.

After getting some feedback I corrected some material errors, added candle light & wrapped up the scene in a different composition. Hope you like it!

I really like this scene :) Did you process the final render with render layers?
If yes, I would like to have a look at the nodes :) :)

No. For stills I do all the post-processing in GIMP, rather than in Blender compositor. (I rendered this with Octane which doesnt support render layers anyway)

Why not? :) The scene is quite simple, nothing Blender can’t handle. Though as I said it was rendered with Octane, not Cylces or BI. I plan to do this scene with Cycles when I’ll get more comfortable with its shading system.

Wow! Great job! Speaking from experience, I know how hard it is to get really realistic food, but you seem to have done it very well!

Thank you! It took some hours of tweaking, but in the end the food turned out satisfying.

I really like the small detailed engravings on the candle stands. I am assuming those are made with textures and bump displacement? Did you make that design yourself? Really impressive work my friend.

Those engravings are a normalmap (bumpmap would work equally well). I just used some flower pattern brushes in GIMP.

      Thanks!

Is the orange sculpted or textured?

It’s both. The major details were sculpted, the fine bumps are a texture.

How long did it take you to complete the image?

The render time was something like 8 hours for a 10 megapixel image (on a single GTX 460).

If you mean how much it took to create the scene, then I’m not sure, something like 20 hours? Or even more, since I created everything from scratch and I do lots of testing & re-testing for materials.

Did you use the cloth physics or sculpt for the tablecloth?
