Ya i just recently learned about spec maps, actually. I plan on doing that. Do you think i should use the same texture for the spec as i did for the main texture, or like just some rough metal texture as a spec map?
Nah, you might want to use a scratch map for the spec layer. I’m not sure how the real thing looks but I would bring the spec level down just a bit for the white areas too. By the way, stang! This is kriffin’ coming along ‘n lookin’ sharp.

You may have to invert the image and adjust the threshold. It reads it as a value so it needs to be grey scale.
Black = Shiny
White = Diffuse
Grey = Mix
I think… could be the other way around..
