This was my first character project in Blender as a way to push the app and prove to myself its competency as a hi-res modeling package, texture-painting solution, render engine, and compositor. Its definitely not picture-perfect but the result more than satisfied my curiosity about Blender’s capabilities: the problems with the image are due to the artist, not the software!

Nice work! The clothes stood out to me the most as realistic, except for the shoulder texture stretching going on. He needs some SSS, maybe some pores.

    great work

I think that’s lens distortion on the shoulder rather than stretching of texture…

Very nice, for a second, I thought it was David Tennent twenty years from now :D . I think that “stretching” is actually just lens distortion (notice the chromatic aberration on the letters in the top right). The only thing I see wrong with the skin is it’s a little too shiny.

    perfect modelling!
    - only play with WardIso – less slope value
    (for smaller white shine there…)

I Like the shine. It looks like he’s been running through a muggy subway, chasing the bad guy. Tho, normally I’d agree… everyone, even the most talented, always seem to make skin way too shiny. I think it’s in the context here tho. Nice!

theluthier, that sounds familiar… You’ve done tuts here, right? Wow, this is amazing! I would feature this in a heartbeat. If you are not making a living doing hair and cloth sims, you should be!! This is better than Animatrix… I’d love to see a feature film with characters and style like this. Good work.
