added some textures to the saber…still not completely happy but i think its heading in the right direction! re-modelled the handle to get the curves right…it actually looks just like the plastic-model i made years ago now
still a lot of noise at the emittter end so i guess i will have to up to 4000 cycles for a final render
need to work on the background….spent so much time on the saber it was a quick throughing together of textures…
Blender, 2000 cycles, 20mins render time (GPU – nvidia gt550m)

wow, nice I really like the scratches on the metal
the overall image looks really good !
keep it up!

I really like the metal texture! It looks like it’s seen some use, been cleaned up and then put back on the stand.
I would just round off the edges of the metal parts a little. Like how you rounded the edges on the stand.
Thanks for the comments
I was aiming for exactly that effect (used & cleaned up), glad that came across.
Yes its still a little sharp at the edges but that’s mainly because i wanted to initially model as closely as possible to the ‘real’ model….
Now i have done that and its all virtual and free from real-world constraints i am hoping to find time to make some subtle artistic ‘re-stylings’
cheers
