added some textures to the saber…still not completely happy but i think its heading in the right direction! re-modelled the handle to get the curves right…it actually looks just like the plastic-model i made years ago now ;)

still a lot of noise at the emittter end so i guess i will have to up to 4000 cycles for a final render :(

need to work on the background….spent so much time on the saber it was a quick throughing together of textures…

Blender, 2000 cycles, 20mins render time (GPU – nvidia gt550m)

    I really like the metal texture! It looks like it’s seen some use, been cleaned up and then put back on the stand.

    I would just round off the edges of the metal parts a little. Like how you rounded the edges on the stand.

    I was aiming for exactly that effect (used & cleaned up), glad that came across.
    Yes its still a little sharp at the edges but that’s mainly because i wanted to initially model as closely as possible to the ‘real’ model….
    Now i have done that and its all virtual and free from real-world constraints i am hoping to find time to make some subtle artistic ‘re-stylings’
