You ought to try rendering this in a recent test build of Blender and try out the Clamp option to help reduce the noise and fireflies in parts of the image.
A nice spin on the tutorial but I agree with both the comments above. My render was 2000 samples and only had a couple of fireflys. Not bragging, just commenting.
I do agree with both, the background is darker then the interior.
I did try out the clamp feature, and it just seemed to make everything look very flat and dull. That might be because I used it incorrectly, but the result I got wasn’t ideal.

The background image seems to be taken on a cloudy day, and yet, a lot of sunshine in the room. Cool rendering of the room itself!
