made with blender (cycles), 2000 samples

I had to render with cpu, because with cuda the scene was to complex (out of memory)

rendertime: 10 hours

  3. This one is _REALLY_ great. My preferred with the locomotive.
Out of memory with Cuda enabled? what’s your graphic card?

Thank you very much Fredmj. My graphic card is a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460. In this scene there are over 300 objects and especially the tree was sucking my card ;)

Beautiful. This is one that can only bi nit-nit-picked — but I think if you rounded the edge on the barrister a little bit — it would help a lot!

    Excellent!

Good concept and can tell much thought and work was put into this… am curious to see what feedback Andrew provides. Just a few suggestions and observations on this excellent scene:
    - Check your lighting scheme; it seems you have a very powerful off scene lighting source(s). Generally, an open fireplace such as this when lit would tend to dominate over any background lighting. Also, the xmas lights seems too powerful given this same scheme. Suggestion: tone down the off camera lighting and tint more toward yellowish-orange.
    - Focus 1; Believe the main focus is intended to be the tree. If so, there are just a few detractors; namely the candle lantern – this seems a bit out of place given location, the wall paper which may be a bit over displaced and lacks the typical sheen common on wall paper, and finally the presents which seem too tight if you know what I mean. (The tree is fantastic by the way – perhaps the best I have ever seen done with blender).
    - Focus 2; Think you did incorporate a bit of DoF but maybe just a touch more would add to the realism of this great scene.
    - Odds and ends; The reef appears to somehow be covering up part of an unlit candle on the mantle (not that placement is incorrect but just looks a bit off); I will bet you would have added an AO pass if cycles already had render passes – this scene would be even better with AO.

No doubt about it, you have talent and hopefully you continue to provide fine works such as this to the community. My favorite element was the vent on the left wall, which though simple I believe truly adds to the life of such scenes.

    Cheers,
    Duane

    Very nice…

I am just wondering what is all made in blender.. any post editing?
what was modeled or just textured in or faked?

Just wondering what whent into this scene?

the fire looks like an image.. or modeled flames not a particle sys..

just wondering .. I see many outstanding images.. and the blending of real modeling and inserting images are normally mixed..

    either way good work!~

It’s 100% blender. Post editing only with node editor. And you are right, the fire is an image. All the rest is modelled

Thank you so much! I worked the last 3 weeks partially on it! I think at least 3-4 days. It was totally worth it and cycles is so powerfull, making half the work ;)

render panel/output: you have to change the type of your image from *.png to *.jpg and then you can also decrease the level of quality, if necessary. Then hit F3 on your Image to save and compare it with your png!

Hi Falksen85, very nice job! I do Christmas for living. Could you tell me how did you make the tree? Just rough idea. I tried particle system, but result was far away from yours.
    Thank you nice inspiration
