Welcome to this 20120 Blender Training Series for Citizens!

The 2010 Blender Training Series was CG Cookie’s first training series and is still one of our most popular series launched to date. Released back in 2010 it quickly became the series to watch to get yourself up to speed on Blender.  Now two years have passed and we are proud to induct it into the Citizen Library. This means that the complete series is available free to all Citizen Members. This is something that all Citizen Members can expect with their membership. From now, with each series we do, after the training series has reached the age of 2 years it will be added to the Citizen library.

 Introduction to Blender

The first part of the 2010 Training Series gives you a complete introduction to Blender. This including understanding the basics of viewport navigation, modeling, materials, lighting, and more. Even though many things have changed in Blender since this series was released, most of the content is still very relavant and provides a wealth of information.

Yeah, im still having an issue, Im working around it, but all input acts strange.

If i were to type A B C D E in belender, for explainations sake.
    When i type A, i see nothing.
    When i type B, i see A
    When i type C, i see B

    And so on.

Its annoying, Especially with selection. I know somethings not right.
When I want to select all, You’d hit A. I have to dip the cursor out of the view afterwards to make it update.

Jonathan – Just found your videos. Not doing another thing until I’ve cruised through them. Eureka!

I dumped Carrara 8 Pro for Blender because of your videos. Awesome tutorials!

    Can anyone help?
I have not started with Blender yet. I am due to start in April 2013 at Tech. I am hoping to give myself a head start before then because I am possibly the world’s slowest learner!!!

    My problem:

I have downloaded Blender 2.64 from the Blender website. However I can’t seem to find any tutorials for 2.64. The ‘Blender Cookies – 2010 Blender Training’ focuses on 2.5. I have noted that the interface is a little different from 2.64.

I have tried to download Blender 2.5 but it does not appear to be available on the Blender site anymore.

    Any suggestions please.

Hi David, the interface has not changed much since 2.5, you will be able to follow tutorials just the same, the only real difference is the knife tool has changed, but that is no biggy.
All the best with learning blender and welcome to the community!

I’ve experimented with DAZ 3D in the past [and still have on my computer] but I found the learning curve with DAZ to be difficult due to a severely limited supply of tutorials and manuals for novices. I happened upon Blender recently and as a result found Blender Cookies. Your courses and tutorials are extremely informative, especially for someone such as myself. I learn more by “doing” rather than via written manuals. And your modules make it much easier to grasp some basic concepts which enables me to have some basic understanding of what I’m doing and how it’s done. Which makes me want to explore more and develop my skills.

Jonathan: I bought Truespace 4 years ago but that was before youtube, there was no video tutorials available at that time, or I couldn’t find them, so I had to learn from the user manual. Didn’t get far. But now with Blender and Blender Cookie I feel like I can finally learn 3d modeling, animating, texturing and so on. I just wanted to say thank You for this excellent course.I am actually getting the hang of it.

Hey Clifford, that’s really encouraging to hear! Is there anything that you’ve found particularly helpful or anything that we could improve upon?
