In the video you say the depth of inset is .01 but you used .01 for the thickness i didn't realize until i screwed up the whole thing and restarted. looking closely at the video i figured it out rather quickly. But after that it went great and was easy for a beginner like me to follow.

Absolutely love this tutorial. At first I was like "eh, Im not a soccer fan at all, why would I need to model a soccer ball?" But then after I watched it I re-winded the vid and watched it for a second time. This covered a lot of ways to use the selection tools efficiently as you said and saved a bunch of time to model something that looks difficult.

Thanks Jonathan! :)

Hi Allan,

Sounds like you started with one too few subdivisions on your icosphere. If you start again be sure the number of subdivisions on your icosphere is the same as the tutorial.

Great tutorial: I managed to make a soccer ball. However those inseting and slecting process were tedious. Anyway, you have simplified a complication to 'an-easy-to-make' ball. Great job.

Hi! First of all, great tutorial!
I'm done modelling the soccer ball but I want it to be set around a good environment, with good lighting and a good background probably like the one in the picture, can anyone help me with that?
Thanks in advance!

Hi Crane, most likely you have Proportional Editing enabled. You can toggle this on and off with the "o" key.
