Hi Beorn I know you must e sick of the praise for your tut but I'd just like to add mine to the list.

Like many who pick up blender I'm a relative newbie in animation and modelling etc. I've managed with thanks to the excellent cgcookie crew pick up some reasonable blender modelling skills but have struggled to find an effective approach to animation. Sure I've read other tuts elsewhere but they never seemed to sit right....

...Till this one.
It covered all the principles in enough detail and you used time lapse where it made sense. It was clear and really well put together. Even early on there were little blender gems exposed but more importantly for me, it showed a completely sensible and practical workflow that made me wonder how I'd missed it till now.

Seriously, I may never be a world class animator but I now feel like I have the tools to put the things I have in my head into blender, with some practice.

so thanks.

Ok enough praise, get volume 2 made ;)

A few people have asked about this, so I wrote a little addon "Freen's Animation Tools", which gives you the animation panel minus the Clive specific group selector.

You can find it here:
http://www.pasteall.org/28987
Save the code as "animation_freens_tools.py", and in user preferences/addons, click "install addon" and locate your saved file.

Glad you're liking the course!

I know it's beyond the scope of this series, but where can i go to learn to make an "anim tools" panel like the one seen on the Clive rig? It sounds like you can make a new panel and paste what you want into it somehow?

Really digging this course, btw =)

Glad you liked it!
Regarding the rig, good news.. You can indeed make a rig like Clive's!
To rig him I used the "rigify" add-on that comes with Blender, written by the legend himself Nathan Vegdahl. Clive's rig is based on the standard biped rig that is generated by rigify. So if you want to use this sort of rig for your own characters, look in your user preferences under Addons>Rigging, enable rigify and check out the docs for how to use it.

Just finished the last exercise of the series,
It has been great fun and learned a awesome amount.
one question though, It's clear that this series isn't about rigging
and I know how to rig a basic character, but the Clive character has a
very advanced rig that works great but I'll never be able to create a rig like that myself. will later Volumes include how to create a advanced rig with custom tools like the Clive Character? I hope so for it would make the "amature animation projects" of mine a lot easier :D I mean With clive's rig you can do pretty much anything, but I can't use Clive for all my animations :P
So will future volumes include how to rig a character like Clive?
