Welcome to another Citizen Friday.. Each Friday we are working to produce Citizen content. If you’re not a Citizen, no worries and no need to give a bunny an evil glare… This isn’t affecting the amount of free tutorials/content to hit the site on a weekly basis. Basically we are just working harder. ;) Of course you are welcome to sign-up today to get access to this exclusive and many more. :)

This Citizen Friday we are going to offer another unique resource to come by. We are releasing our Kara Modeling sheets, which were originally used and commissioned for the 2010 Blender Training series. They were produced by David Revoy.

Using modeling sheets and drastically speed up the modeling workflow; for both new and veteran users alike. These modeling sheets have a good amount of detail and line up very well. In total there are five modeling sheets, the final, rendered artwork, and an original drawing of Kara that has never been seen before.

We are offering these up to all Citizen members free for personal use.

Enjoy!

The Facebook question was a survey for a near-future topic that I want to cover. Unfortunately, I cannot produce a full series in less than 12 hours ;)

If it is an environment scene, it would depend on what environment. But a general round look would be rocks, plants, and the actual shape of the land. If it is just placing items, then wouldn’t a nature picture or site be all you really need?

Actually I am going through the Kara part of the 2010 modeling series now. Ibought it back when the series originally came out but have been doing other things and now got back to the lovely Kara. :0)
It is fun to go through it and Jonathan does such a great job and no steps seem to be skipped.

Thanks for mentioning the way to make the modeling sheet appear in the user view, I was wondering how or if it was possible. I didn’t know about the empty object.

This should be helpful. Without the tutorial to fallback on it will be a test of my Blender skills and be a good learning experience. I was amazed at how much knowledge I had to pool from while doing my pumpkin entry and this should be no different.

Yes, yes and yes. I was just thinking the other day that I wish I had some good front and side view references to model off of while I’m away from my wacom. Thanks :)

Hi there, I have been trying to become citizen since yesterday, but when I click on one of the option that says “become citizen” it takes me to my account settings to change my password. But I don’t see any option to pay or become citizen. I left a message in Concept Cookie but no answer yet. No sure if both accounts blender and concept are linked together. Please can someone give me a hand with this?

    Thanks in advance,
    Judy

      Hi Judy,

On your user dashboard, you should have a “Subscription” tab that allows you to upgrade your account. If you’re not seeing that can you please send me a screenshot of what you do see? One way or the other, we’ll get you your Citizen account :)

Oh and yes, all the CG Cookie sites share user accounts. Upgrade one and the rest will be upgraded as well.

      Cheers,
      Jonathan

Hi I am just trying out a free membership for now seeing if I can actually make stuff using Blender. But with the free membership can I still watch the rest of the tutorials. Do I also have to sign up in order to get the Kara resource art or should I get an email for it.

I mean here I have a decent shaped nude female body with no head hands and feet…. I think my wife is getting worried :) Sorry bad joke.
