The new website theme/features are just about ready to go live in the next few days. We wanted to push out another overview video and let you know this is happening this Wednesday, at approx 10am -6GMT. We have stocked up a bit of coffee, string cheese and told our friends and family they may not hear from us on Wednesday.
In the morning of this Wednesday we are going to start switching sites over to the new WordPress MU installation with the updated theme. We are estimating this may take a few hours to complete.
Below is an updated video showcasing some of the new features of the site/network and what you can expect to see this week.
NEW FEATURES
This has been the largest site undertaking as a crew here at Cg Cookie. We have had over a year of development of the site. Some months we were able to devote more time then others, but the culmination of feedback we have received, and support of us has enabled us to put this together.
Network Wide Login
A feature that has been a long time coming. If you are logged into CG Cookie. You are then logged into our entire network of education sites. No more managing multiple logins.
Integrated Citizen Content
If you are a Citizen Member of CG Cookie and are viewing a Citizen tutorial. You no longer have to log into CG Cookie Citizen to download. The new Cg Cookie site will recognize you as a Citizen Member and will stream the video for you in addition to being able to download the HD and available source files.
CGCookie.com reactivated
http://cgcookie.com has been updated to operate as our central hub for our education network and studio. Here is where you will be able to update your account information, browse the shop, or view the networks feeds.
Bookmarking
Have a great tutorial that you always go back to? With being a free registered member of our network you now will have the ability to bookmark your favorite tutorials and visit them from your side control panel or dashboard.
Series functionality
In the past we had to manually update the HTML of each post to include part 01, part 02, etc.. This got a bit out of hand especially when some of our series hit the 10 part mark. On the new site we have a built a series widget that allows us to group tutorials with ease. As well as present those to you as well.
Submit an image
In efforts to expand the interaction between author and student, we have added a “submit your image” section on most tutorials. If the tutorial warrants some image feedback from the community, or author. You may submit your results on the tutorial page. These results show up embedded in the very same post.
These are just some of the features we have added, but there are a slew of other ones we have added to make for a more friendly user experience.
Other features
- Badges: Author, Admin and Citizen
- Integrated Shop
- Subscribe to commenting
- Multi-site Search
- Network Menu Widget
- Support system integrated more efficiently. Ability to convert a comment into a support ticket
- Related tutorials section
- Dim lights feature
- Quick Access Side Control Panel
- Tips are now download-able to all Citizen Members
If you are interested, here is a link to our first teaser video. Since this video first aired, we adjusted a bit of the site around based on the BETA feedback we received.
Thank you to all of the BETA testers that help us improve the site and offer

wow this is amazing. Utterly amazing. Already do you guys have quality tutorials but now with the submit an image newbies (like me) will be able to have their questions answered fully.
