In this 10 part series, I introduce you to the new character “BC Baker” and how his rig works, including shape keys and drivers. We look into the different tools for animation in Blender, namely the Action Editor, Pose Library, and Non-Linear Action (NLA) editor.

David;
This series is the reason I became a citizen. Just thought you might like to know that =] I’ve been following your work on youtube since ol’ Johnny Blender 1 [seems like a long time ago!]. I’ve been using Blender Cookie for a while, but nothing really peaked my interest enough to become a Citizen until I saw this series.
Not that Mr. Williamson isn’t awesome ;]
Anyway, I’m going to spend the day working through these now!
Just came across this. After vaca next week, I’ll be joining the site. Need to keep the C/C clean while I’m traveling.
I can’t wait. This looks really neat.
LOL,
That intro clip was so funny!!

Erm I can’t seem to locate the baker model in the source files
great tutorial. very nice to a noobie like me xD
I can’t find the bc_baker.blend. Can i get link for this file?
For the Baker character, the eyes (and the eyelids) are non-spherical. How did you get the eyelids to conform to the shape of the eye as you rotate them open/closed? This is brilliant.
I partially answered my own question. It’s done with a lattice. Nice example in the “Rudolph the Reindeer” series. Apparently one lattice is used to influence both the eye and the eyelid. I’ll need to study more to see how this is done.
This looks like a great series! Actually one of the main reasons I became a citizen. I’m really hoping to learn AT LEAST the basics of character animation so I can experiment and study a bit more one my own to get better. Thanks you so much for making this. And not to make py praise any less, but I also cannot find the baker rig in the source files.
