In this quick video tip for Blender 2.5 we take a look at how you can easily rename items in Blender with drag and drop. Using this method you can rename anything from objects to materials and mesh data.

    Wow! Drag a “materials” name and drop it onto the actual object to see the object take on the actual material – I had no idea. Very neat! Thanks for the tip!! :)

    Wow! It’s really great! :) ) I didn’t knew about this functionality and often spent a noticeable ammount of time for renaming (due to my collegue requirement too!)

    Very useful! Once I wrote a python script to rename the mesh of the object with the same name as the object

    Just a suggestion for the next quick tip: Local view, I recently found this out, if you press “Numpad /”, only the object selected will remain visible, and if you press “Numpad /” again, it will go back into global mode.
    (When I accidently pressed it I was scared I deleted my whole model)
