Intro to Boids Particles

In Blender 2.5 video tutorial, we will be going over the basics of Boids Particles.

Boids particles are essentially particles with a ‘will of their own’. In this tutorial we’ll be taking a look at how to use these particles for basic crowd simulation, creating a flock of birds following a target and two teams of Suzannes ‘battling’ each other.

    all my biods are flying sideways??? i tried rotating my bird model on its axis but no change. is there a certain way of having the model set up before applying it as a particle, or is there something in the particle settings that will adjust the orientation?

    Great tutorial, I enjoyed it but got a little frustrated with the war boids but ultimately I made a game with it.

    Problem 1: All the war boids move apart as I running or retreating whilst fighting their enemies which means that they are hard to see as you have to zoom out.

    Solution. Under Boid Brain, get those boids to fight first. Put fight as the highest priority so they fight without moving away. They then remain close to where they were dropped, fighting. Then as one side loses they may scatter.
