In this Citizen exclusive Blender 2.5 video tutorial series, we go through a hard-surface modeling exercise by creating a highly detailed M4 assault rifle.
In part 3 of this modeling series we model the details of the ironsights.
- Using perimeter face loops to keep control of your topology

Looks incredible, how many parts will there be?
-Nick
It’s looking like there will be 7-8 parts actually. There is a lot of detail to model
-Jonathan
hey,
it’s an incredible tutorial. congrats!
Next time I want to see a Scifi-Starship like a TIE-Fighter…something spherical with a lot of details.^^
That bayonet lug looks great, Jonathan. I’m curious as to why you haven’t added in the front sight post (the little vertical piece between the tapered “wings” of the front sight assembly)–you can see it in this pic: http://shop.ehobbyasia.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/5e06319eda06f020e43594a9c230972d/g/p/gp140_1_mark.jpg
Anyway, outstanding series so far–I can’t wait for part 4!
I didn’t add it because failed to realize it was even there
I will add it in the next part, thanks for pointing it out!
-Jonathan

very nice jonathan, very anxious for this series also can’t wait to see what you got planned for a holloween themed tut
It would be cool if you could make a tutorial on camera tracking with Blender 2.5 + Voodoo (or some other program).
You should really make a tut on modeling a tank or a airplane THAT MY FREIND will get a lot of peoples actteion. Sorry for my spelling…
