Hi lots of times these tutorial forget some of the basic stuff thinking its intuitive because they know it. You have to select objects for the contextual menus to show up. So much is hidden in blender until you select it then menus become specific to what you have selected

I am using a Mac with Snow Leopard OS and Blender 2.6X
I will submit some jpegs detailing this.

    Hi Jonathan,

I hope you can help me.
I’m making a kind of documentarys based on historical photographs and for the editing I use “Vegas pro 9″ (maybe I will upgrade to “pro 11″). Think about buildings, streets with people, factorys, historical happenings.

In Vegas I’m using the 3D technic (masks, layers, etc) but the images remain flat. Now i like tu put more “dimension” into some photographs and i saw some nice examples, made in Blender. So I thought Blender is my program to do it.

I saw some tutorials (like this 7 above) but it is difficult to find the method how to put dimension into existing photogaphy. I think I understand the basical method of projecting the photo, making dimensions with meshes in a kind of layer, using the virtual Blender camera, etc.
I saw an tutorial explaining how to do with photography but some parts I can’t understand.
    Here you can see:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=endscreen&v=d9x_1iIAB8Q&NR=1

I think it’s not too bad but probably my basis knowledge is still to low.

I’m 57 years old and not a wizzkid in this kind of programms. Your tutorials were very clear, in general I can understand them well, also your clear English.

Blender is not easy and the most tutorials have other intentions what to learn but my goal at the moment is only to use it for this historical photographs.

Maybe you know one or some tutorials which can help me out.

    Kind regards, Herman

    Hi Jonathon

Just spent the last week working through your Intro to Blender tutorials and have to say credit where credit’s due! Absolutely brilliant mate! This program is the tool of choice for an MSc I’ll be starting next year and although I’m proficient with Photoshop, couldn’t grasp the basics of Blender until I saw your tutorials. You’ve somehow managed to extract all the basic tools and functions for anyone to get going in a very short time. My only question is about Rendering the animation. Did a very basic 60 second clip moving and rotating the cube and selected AVI Codec as the output. Scene played fluently in VLC Player but total length was only 2 secs. Any ideas why as I can’t work this one out for myself? Thanks so much…

      Hi MidiMe
Did you render out 60 frames instead of 60 seconds? 60 frames at 30 frames per second = 2 seconds.

Hi, I have not used that software but look for an option to export as an obj and then you can import that into blender

Hi Konrad, sometimes falloff can have a big effect on lights. try narrowing down your problem. Put the value of the light at 100, then at 0. if nothing changes the light is not effecting your scene. If it does, then you may just need to use bigger values.

It is all free to sign up and sell your images. The agienecs will never charge you any monthly fees. Of course the agienecs are advertising and promoting your images to buyers all over the world by publishing ads in magazines and on the web. Therefore they charge a commission from each sale you make. This commission can vary from roughly 80% to 40% for the agency. Check the referral links in my description and read the contract of each agency carefully.

it would be helpful if commenters could leave jpeg screen shots of the issues they are bumping into to show the problems in addition to jotting them down.
