I am wondering how adding a vertex group works with the displace modifier. I have a model where I have one displace modifier affecting the entire mesh, works fine. Now I would like to add another displace modifier to only affect one part of the mesh. So I created a vertex group of the vertices I want to displace separately within the mesh. But when I add the vertex group to the VG slot, nothing happens to those vertices in the group. Any insight would be great.

cool! i've tried that before, but usually used Weight Paint to deform the stuff, and not an actual texture... usually didn't give very good results, lol :D

Nice tutorial, Johnathan!
Really, I was intrigued by your Fluid tutorial. As before this I tried several times to make simulation in Blender by myself so I'm continuing doing it. And I hope to know something new about this theme because the first part gave me more tips than I already known.

(sorry for my English)

Yegor, you can't _auto_update your mesh, but you can quickly and easily update it simply by hitting the TAB key to go into editmode and then again to go back out.

You can also use a script called "Landscape Generator (A.N.T.)", it makes really cool landscapes and is very easy to use. Unfortunately, its only available in 2.49...
