Hey great tutorial, I was just wondering though why you don’t make use of the ‘limit stretch’ tool (plus scrolling for the best pick of that)? Or would that have made things worse in this case?

I do have questions about having separate maps for the head and body – what’s the goal in doing it that way? Also, for the materials, how do you apply the 2 separate uv’s?

The goal of having two seperate UV maps is that you can add more detail on the face when texturing.
If you unwrap the whole body with the head on one UV, the head is going to take a really small amount of space in the texture.

        Good luck.

Wow, I was just thinking of unwrapping a full body yesterday. Awesome tutorial! As for the ‘bake to seperate islands’ thing, I’d love to see a tutorial on that as well as baking in general. =)

    That’s a nice tutorial Jonathan !
The creation process of an entire human is almost completely on tutorials :)
What’s gona still to learn, will be about hairs and covering bodies with some clothes.
Btw, it could be interesting to have a tutorial/tip
on baking textures from a single UV island to separated UV islands.

Thanks for another excellent tutorial Jonathon. Yes, please do a tutorial on baking UVs, as you mentioned was possible in the tutorial. you always bring up points that the other tutorials online don’t cover or just gloss over.

can you please do a tutorial about UV mapping with the bevel modifier? i dont know how to UV an object after the bevel modifier. if you use bevel after UV then it destroys everything.

    Hey John,

Awesome tutorial as always. One area that wasn’t mentioned was the eyes. Should they have their own UV maps? Is it necessary that the eyes be separate objects? What about other accessories, like a hat for example. Should that be its own object/have it’s own texture map?

Is it more or less complicated to model clothing directly onto the character, as opposed to creating a base body like this and placing clothing onto it?

    Thanks!
    A big fan

Thank you for the tutorial , it’s great! But I have a question.
How do you apply the head’s texture ans the body’s texture together with 2 separate uv’s?

    Thanks
