Just wanted to be the first to congratulate you on another great tutorial! Jonathan, you have helped me many times, and I thank you sir. Keep rocking and blender cookie will be unstoppable!
Awesome, again just what I need.
Well oh snap, I was just gonna go and watch your two ‘DVDs’ on modeling the female body so I can get pointers on my character creation so this video is gonna be very useful
This tutorial really stands out as being exceptionally well-done and useful. Thanks!
“This tutorial really stands out as being exceptionally well-done and useful. Thanks!”
This is what I wanted to say. Thanks Jonathan
Thanks Jonathan! This one is a keeper!
Hey great tutorial, I was just wondering though why you don’t make use of the ‘limit stretch’ tool (plus scrolling for the best pick of that)? Or would that have made things worse in this case?
Out of curiosity what happened to the Female tutorial in your store? I can’t seem to find it
Crazy how uv unwrapping is exactly what I’m working on today… Very useful tut, thanks man!
I do have questions about having separate maps for the head and body – what’s the goal in doing it that way? Also, for the materials, how do you apply the 2 separate uv’s?
The goal of having two seperate UV maps is that you can add more detail on the face when texturing.
If you unwrap the whole body with the head on one UV, the head is going to take a really small amount of space in the texture.
Good luck.
Wow, I was just thinking of unwrapping a full body yesterday. Awesome tutorial! As for the ‘bake to seperate islands’ thing, I’d love to see a tutorial on that as well as baking in general. =)
That’s a nice tutorial Jonathan !
The creation process of an entire human is almost completely on tutorials
What’s gona still to learn, will be about hairs and covering bodies with some clothes.
Btw, it could be interesting to have a tutorial/tip
on baking textures from a single UV island to separated UV islands.
Thanks for another excellent tutorial Jonathon. Yes, please do a tutorial on baking UVs, as you mentioned was possible in the tutorial. you always bring up points that the other tutorials online don’t cover or just gloss over.
can you please do a tutorial about UV mapping with the bevel modifier? i dont know how to UV an object after the bevel modifier. if you use bevel after UV then it destroys everything.
Thank you for the tutorial. I would love to see a bake tutorial.
can you please do a tutorial about the new re-projection ?
This really helped me. Thanks! And I would love to see a baking tutorial, too.
Hey John,
Awesome tutorial as always. One area that wasn’t mentioned was the eyes. Should they have their own UV maps? Is it necessary that the eyes be separate objects? What about other accessories, like a hat for example. Should that be its own object/have it’s own texture map?
Is it more or less complicated to model clothing directly onto the character, as opposed to creating a base body like this and placing clothing onto it?
Thanks!
A big fan
Where can I find a tutorial on modeling the female body?
You can find my older training dvd on my Montage Studio site here: http://montagestudio.org/dvds/
The dvd is getting older now but the techniques presented are all still relevant.

Thank you for the tutorial , it’s great! But I have a question.
How do you apply the head’s texture ans the body’s texture together with 2 separate uv’s?
Thanks
great as usual!!

Hi Mikee,
What resolution is the image you are trying to save out?
-Jonathan
Hey Jonathan,
i tried 2000×2000 and 2000×3000
Hello, so i tried 1024X1024 and it does the same thing.
Do you have any clue whats wrong please?
Hey There!! Great Tutorial! You had mentioned at 34:11 about separating the mesh then then rebaking the textures. I would LOVE to see that done. WOO HOO!
When I Render my Video or image my Texture isn’t there and I don’t know how to fix it. Please Help me.
