I have actually considered this option on numerous occasions. It is something I love to do and I would love to teach at the college level. I figure I will stick with freelance for a while yet, perhaps take a shot and the studio route and then perhaps approach some schools :)

That's actually a good idea. Would require people to actually HAVE all that software though :P I'm definitely gonna get ZBrush, but the rest is way too expensive for now. Still, that's what I was hoping to do some day, so how about it? :)

This comment is a bit off topic, I have an idea for a tip/tut series:
Blender Pipeline integration (Epxorting/ importing to ZBrush, Max, Mudbox...).
I had the idea because of the After Effects Exporter.
Some people who want to head into the industry might ask themselves: Can I use Blender modeling skills when I go to a company? Does Blender blend into pipelines?

Jonathan,

Great job, again. Ever thought about pursuing a career as a 3D art professor or art director or something? You obviously have a combination of skills that is perfect for these kinds of jobs--not only do are you an artist, but you are also good at teaching and solving problems on the spot. I'm not telling you what you should do . . . but if I had your skill set (umm . . . Pixar and whoever else).

It's looking good!

I agree with Redmole, it'd be great to see that guy textured. Maybe even used in a scene, with the lighting, rendering, postwork, everything covered. Basically all the steps from awesome model to awesome illustration :)

Well that's probably beyond the scope of what was intended for this tutorial but it's just an idea for the future.

I've been waiting for this one for a while. Nice work. I was wondering if you're going to get into the texture of this character eventually? I am getting much better at character modeling, much thanks to you, but I would like to start getting into using textures on a lower poly model.
